Azorella trifurcata is naturally found in South America from Argentina to Chile growing in rocky places amongst woodlands along stream banks and in heath or on north facing slopes from sea level to an altitude of 1,550 m (5,085 ft).

It prefers an open to exposed sunny position and grows in very well drained poor to moderately fertile sandy-stony soil that is acidic to neutral. It is drought, frost and salt laden wind tolerant.

The Cushion Plant is grown for its dense spreading habit and its clusters of flowers. It is planted in sunny rockeries or rock crevices as a spill-over or used as a weed resistant ground cover between stepping stones. It is also grown along front borders in small or alpine gardens and planted in gravel gardens.

It is suitable for coastal and low-mountain regions and establishes in 2-3 years and is moderately long lived. This perennial is ideal for patio pots and planter boxes or used in roof gardens tolerating neglect. ID 2801
