This rhizomatous perennial has upright dark green flat-pointed grass-like leaves that form a dense clump. The small white saucer-shaped flowers appear in clusters that are held above the foliage on a slender stem and appear in late spring.

Libertia grandiflorais naturally found from the North Island to the northern part of the South Island of New Zealand growing in lowland scrub and in the adjoining forests.
It tolerates most well drained moderately fertile humus rich moist soils in an open sunny to semi shaded position and is drought and moderately frost tolerant.
Mikoikoi is grown for its dainty flowers and its clumping habit. It is planted in small or cottage gardens along borders or driveways and in rockeries. It is suitable for coastal and inland regions tolerating exposed positions and establishing in 2 to 3 years from division.
