This hybrid shrub has upright arching slender stems that form a bushy rounded habit. It has bright green pointed ovate leaves and the fragrant white saucer-shaped flowers appear in clusters from early to mid summer.

Philadelphus x lemoineiis derived from a cross between Philadelphus microphyllusand Philadelphus coronariusand was carried out in the late 1880's by the French hybridist Lemoine.

It prefers a well drained, moderately fertile moist sandy to clay loams in a wind protected sunny position and is frost tolerant but drought tender.

Mock Orange is grown for its flowers and its rounded habit. It is planted in parks and gardens along shrub borders as a filler plant or grown as a specimen. It is suitable for coastal and inland regions establishing in 3 to 4 years and can be grown in large containers. There are many cultivars available with varying habits and flowers. ID 2743
