This shrub to small tree has a trunk with light brown peeling bark and upright spreading branches that form a rounded crown. It has mid green oval toothed leaves and the small, saucer-shaped white flowers appear during spring.

The Clove Cherry is grown for its white flowers and small bushy habit. It is planted in small or Japanese gardens along borders or as a specimen. It is suitable for coastal or low mountain regions establishing in 3 to 4 years and is moderately long lived. It may also be grown in planter boxes or trimmed to form a hedge. ID 2700
