This small deciduous shrub is multi-stemmed with wiry arching branches to ground level that form a compact rounded habit. It has dull green narrow lance-shaped leaves and the bright yellow wheel-shaped flowers appear singularly in late summer.

It prefers an open sunny to semi-shaded position and grows in well-drained, moderately fertile light sandy to heavy clay soils and is pH adaptable. It is frost and mildly drought tolerant and is grown successfully in the UK.
