Yucca torreyiis naturally found in North America growing in southern New Mexico and north-east Mexico in the Chihuahuan desert grasslands or shrub thickets in foothill slopes or on the plains at an altitude from 610m to 1524 m (2000-5000 ft).

It prefers a well drained dry moderately fertile sandy-stony soil with a pH 6.1-8.5 and grows in an open sunny position and is drought and cold tolerant but frost tender.

Torrey's Yucca is grown for its upright growth habit and its foliage. It is planted in small or arid gardens as a specimen or in groups along borders. It is also planted in large rockeries or used in patio tubs and planter boxes. It is suitable for coastal and low-mountain regions and establishes in 3-4 years and is long lived. ID 2667
