This shrub has multiple upright grey branched stems that form a bushy rounded crown. It has glossy dark green divided fern-like leaves with a bronze new growth and the small pink tube-shaped pink flowers appear in flattened clusters during summer.

Leea coccineais naturally found in Burma growing in humid tropical forest margins and a long water courses. It prefers an organic rich, well drained moist soil in a semi-shaded to full sun position with wind, frost and drought protection.

The West Indian Holly is grown for its foliage and reddish fruit. It is planted in tropical or sub-tropical gardens as a specimen or along borders in groups for screening, or trimmed to form a hedge. It is suitable for coastal and low mountain regions establishing in 2-3 years and is moderately long lived.
