This tree has an upright greyish trunk with arching branches that form a dense rounded crown. It has glossy dark green oblong leaves and the sweetly scented, creamy white tube-shaped flowers appear in large clusters throughout summer.

Nuxia floribundais naturally found in Africa from the Cape midlands of South Africa to Mozambique and extending in to central tropical Africa growing in forests or along the margins on the coast and in mountainous regions.

It is commonly associated with watercourses and grows in organic rich moist, deep soils in an open to protected sunny position and is frost and drought tender.

The Forest Elder Is grown for its spreading habit and the flowers. It is planted in parks and gardens as a specimen or shade tree and used in tropical settings. It is suitable for coastal or mountainous regions establishing in 4-6 years and is long lived. Under cultivation this tree normally attains a height of 5 m (15 ft) and is also used in fragrant gardens, attracting bees and birds. ID 2630

Note:
The close grained pale yellow wood is hard and heavy and commonly used for fencing and general construction or for wood turning and the bark is used in traditional Zulu medicine.
