This tall shrub is upright and spreading with woody stems that are pubescent at the twigs and forms a rounded bushy habit. It has spoon-shaped dark green leaves and the white star-shaped flowers appear in terminal clusters during spring.

Leionema elatiusis naturally found in Australia from Bulahdelah northern New South Wales to Queensland growing in warm temperate to dry rainforest on the coast and in the adjoining ranges.

It grows in well drained moderately fertile soils and prefers an open sunny position and is drought and frost tender.

Tall Phebalium is grown for its flowers and its bushy habit in sub-tropical gardens or commercial sites. It is also planted in small gardens along borders as a low screen or in rainforest settingsand is suitable for coastal regions. It establishes in 2 to 3 years and may be planted in planter boxes or large patio pots. ID 2602

Note:
The smaller ssp. beckeri grows to 2m (6ft) tall and occurs in a restricted area on the border between New South Wales and Queensland. It is identified by its narrower leaves and may be difficult to obtain from nurseries.
