This upright shrub to small tree has grey-brown flaky bark and ascending branches that form a compact habit. It has dark green scale-like leaves that clasp the stems and the small rounded cones appear in summer.

Callitris gracilisis naturally found in Australia growing in south-eastern New South Wales and Victoria extending to South Australia aappearing on the river plains.

It prefers a open sunny position and grows in a well drained moist sandy-stony loam but tolerates dry conditions and is drought and frost tolerant.

Murray Pine is grown for its columnar habit and its drought tolerance. It is planted along borders in large gardens and along watercourses in bushland settings. It is suitable for coastal or inland regions establishing in 3 to 4 years and is vigorous but may be difficult to obtain. ID 2582
