This shrub is erect and tree-like with spreading branches that form a rounded crown. It has dark green oblong leaves that are arranged in rows along the branchlets and the pendant green bell-shaped flowers appear in the leaf axils during late spring.

Breynia oblongifoliais naturally found in Australia from southern New South Wales extending to Queensland growing along the coast and in the adjoining mountains. Its habitat varies from Eucalypt forests to rainforest margins and coastal sand dunes.

It prefers a protected sunny position and grows in an organic rich moist soil and is drought and frost tender.

Breynia is grown for its upright bushy habit and is planted along borders in parks, gardens and bushland settings. It is very suitable for coastal regions establishing in 2 to 3 years and forms a dense screen.
