This shrub has many upright spreading branches that form a compact bushy habit. It has light to dark green lance-shaped leaves and the small white to lilac tube-shape flowers appear in a long flower-head amongst the foliage during summer.

Hebe salicifoliais naturally found throughout many parts of the South Island of New Zealand growing on the coast and in the lower mountains from sea level to an altitude of 1060 m (2,968 ft).
It prefers an open sunny position but will tolerate partial shade and grows in well drained fertile moist loams and is frosts and drought tolerant.
This Hebe is grown for its attractive foliage and flowers. Is planted in small gardens along borders or used in rockeries and may be trim to form an informal hedge. It is suitable for coastal or low mountain regions, establishes in 2-3 years and is moderately long-lived. This shrub is also used in commercial landscapes as it requires little maintenance once established. ID 2499
