This shrub has angular woody stems that are upright and spreading forming an open habit. It has dull green stiff linear leaves and the red bottlebrush-like flowers appear towards the end of the branches from spring to early summer.

Callistemon linearisis naturally found in Australia from Queensland to New South Wales growing on the western slopes and northern tablelands and the north and south coastal regions.

It appears along watercourses and on coastal heath preferring well drained moderately fertile moist soils in an open sunny position. It is very hardy and frost, drought and salt spray tolerant.

The Narrow-leaved Bottlebrush is grown for its flowers and is planted in small gardens or along water courses, shrub borders and used as a pedestrian barrier. It is suitable for coastal and adjoining tableland regions establishing in 2 to 3 years and used in gullies as a bird haven. ID 2487
