This small shrub has slender woody stems and forms an open rounded habit. It has dark green curved linear leaves and the small pale lilac bell-shaped flowers appear in clusters from winter to spring.

Hybanthus floribundusis naturally found in Australia from New South Wales to Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia growing in inland regions. It prefers a very well drained, moderately fertile light soil in an open sunny position and is frost and drought tolerant.
The Shrub Violet is grown for its flowers and is planted in small or arid gardens as an edging plant or in rockeries as a specimen. It is suitable for inland regions establishing in 2 to 3 years but may be difficult to cultivate as it dislikes humid climates. ID 2477
