This shrub has many upright woody stems that form a rounded habit that becomes open with age. It has wrinkled dark green oblong leaves and the small bell-shaped creamy white flowers appear in dense clusters during spring.

Viburnum rhytidophyllumis naturally found from central to western China growing in well drained, fertile moist acidic to alkaline soils in a protected semi shaded to full sun position and is frost tolerant but drought tender.
The Leatherleaf Viburnum is grown for its foliage and is planted in parks and large gardens or cottage gardens in shady borders for screening or in gully plantings. It is suitable for coastal and adjoining tablelands establishing in 3 to 4 years and used in woodland settings. ID 2435
Note:
Under cold conditions the plant may be defoliated but will re-shoot from the roots during spring. Under these conditions a protected position is favourable.
