This solitary fan palm has a slender light brown trunk and a dense crown of glossy dark green semicircular pleated fronds. The small flowers are in clusters that appear amongst the leaves during late spring followed by rounded reddish fruit.

Pritchardia minoris naturally found on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai growing in the rainforest understorey on the mountain sides and along water courses on the coast and inland.

It prefers a semi shaded to full sun humid position and grows in well drained organic rich soils with wind, frost and drought protection.

This palm is grown for its foliage and is planted in tropical gardens as a specimen. It is also used in gully plantings on the coast and in the mountains. When young in cool climates it is used in bright conservatories establishing in 2 to 4 years but may be difficult to obtain.ID 2415
