This rhizomatous perennial has a short underground stem and forms a clump with grey-green strap-like leaves. The furry green tube-shaped yellow green flowers appear in clusters from spring to early summer.

Anigozanthos viridis is naturally found in Western Australia growing on the west coast and in adjacent forests in sandy to limey soils in a open sunny position and is frost tender but drought tolerant.

The Green Kangaroo Paw is grown for its flowers and is planted in small or native gardens along borders or in groups in raised garden beds. It is also planted in patio pots and is suitable for coastal or inland regions. It establishes in 2 to 3 years and is excellent for cut flowers or colour contrast. ID 2404
