Acacia pycnanthais the Australian floral emblem and is naturally found from the tablelands of New South Wales, south to Victoria and Tasmania and west to South Australia.
It grows in well drained, moderately fertile sandy-stony soils in an open sunny position and is frost tender requiring a semi protected position but is drought resistant.
The Golden Wattle is grown for its masses of flowers and its upright habit. It is planted in parks and gardens as a quick growing screen or specimen in woodland settings. It is suitable coastal and adjoining tableland regions or for roadside plantings and commercial sites establishing in 2 to 3 years.ID 2342
