Hoya macgillivrayi is naturally found in Australia growing in Queensland along stream banks and is associated with rainforests.
It prefers a warm humid environment with semi-shade to bright indirect light and grows on organic rich, moist well drained soils with wind, frost and drought protection.
The Wax Vine is grown for its flowers and is planted in small gardens for a tropical effect or used in hanging baskets. It is grown over structures attaining great heights and establishes in 2 to 3 years. In temperate climates it is used as a glass house specimen.ID 2328
