This small tree has upright greyish trunk with spreading branches that form a rounded crown. It has glossy dark green broad lanced-shaped leaves and the fragrant white wheel-shaped flowers appear in clusters during summer.

Cerbera manghasis naturally found from India to Malaysia and Pacific Islands. It also found in Australia growing in the Northern Territory and Queensland preferring a humus rich moist well drained sandy soils in a protected sunny position and is drought and salt tolerant but frost tender.

Pong-pong is grown for its flowers and its rounded habit. It is planted in tropical gardens as a small shade tree or in shrub borders and fragrant gardens. It established in 3 to 5 years and is suitable for coastal regions, street planting or as a lawn specimen. ID 2327

Note:
It is simular to Plumeria acutifolia (Frangipani) but is very cold sensitive and contains latex which is toxic. Under cultivation the tree is normally smaller, but in its natural environment it can attain a height of 15m (50ft).
