This palm has clustered upright straight stems up to 50mm (2in) in diameter and has a cylindrical olive green crown shaft up to 470mm (19in) long. This large divided fronds have oblong leafletsand the small cup-shaped flowers are followed by red fruit.

Ptychosperma sanderianumis naturally found south-eastern Papua New Guinea growing in coastal forests and in rainforest in mountainous gullies.
It prefers a well drained organic rich moist soil in a semi shaded position that is protected and humid and is drought and frost tender and very cold sensitive.
This palm is grown for it s foliage and elegant habit. It is planted in tropical settings as understorey filler or along creek embankments and in shady borders. It is suitable for coastal or mountainous regions establishing in 3 to 5 years and may be used in planter boxes or as an entrance plant.ID 2316
