This clustered palm has slender ringed yellowish green trunks to 50mm (2in) wide with a swollen crown-shaft. It has bright green divided, arching fronds and the small creamy-pink flowers appear in clusters below the fronds during summer.

Pinanga kuhliiis naturally found from Sumatra to Java in Indonesia growing in the rainforest understorey in humus rich moist, well drained soils in a shaded position with wind, frost and drought protection.
The Ivory Cane Palm is grown for its foliage and its clumping habit. It is planted in tropical or small gardens in shady borders or around water features. It is suitable for coastal regions establishing in 3 to 5 years and is used in group plantings along creek embankments. It is grown under glass in cool climates as a specimen. ID 2312

This species is commonly confused with Pinanga coronataand both are found growing together.
This plant is not commonly cultivated and may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery.
