This feather palm has upright slender green, prominently ringed trunks that form a cluster with a smooth green crown-shaft. The spreading dark green divided fronds form a dense crown and the small greenish flowers are followed by red fruit.

Areca triandrais naturally found from south-east Asia in the Philippines and eastern Indonesia growing as an understorey plant in rainforests from sea level to an altitude of 1500m (4,500ft).
