This palm has a solitary smooth ringed greyish trunk that swells at the base and topped with an open rounded crown. The large yellow-green divided leaves have lax lanced-shaped segments and the small cup-shaped flowers appear in clusters during summer.

Latania verschaffeltiiis naturally found on Rodrigues Islands east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean growing in volcanic based well drained, fertile moist soils in an open sunny position and is drought tolerant but frost tender.

The Yellow Latan Palm is grown for its foliage and is used in tropical settings, parks and large gardens and as a lawn specimen. It is suitable for coastal or inland regions or planted in patio pots when young. It establishes in 4 to 7 years and is used in group plantings. ID 2291

Note:
This plant differs from Latania lontaroidesin that the leaves are thinner, less stiff and have a yellowish ting on both sides.
