This large rainforest tree has a grey trunk that becomes slightly buttress and spreading branches that form a rounded canopy. It has oblong dark green leaves that may be lobed and the small cream flowers appear on a slender spike during autumn.

Musgravea heterophyllais naturally found in Australia growing in northern Queensland in the lowlands along the Daintree River and on the Atherton Tablelands in rainforest.
It prefers moist well drained organic rich acidic loams in a protected sunny position and is drought and frost tender.
The Briar Silky Oak is grown for its habit and is planted in parks or large gardens as a specimen or in rainforest settings. It is suitable for coastal and the adjoining tableland regions establishing in 3 to 5 years and tolerates sub-tropical climates. ID 2269
