This tree to large shrub is variable (polymorphic) with upright branches that form a broad conical habit. The dark green toothed leaves are broad lanced-shaped and the fragrant cup-shaped, white flowers appear from late summer to autumn.

Schima wallichiiis naturally found from the Himalayas to south and south-east Asia including Indonesia, growing in forests. It prefers a well drained organic rich moist soils in a semi shaded to sunny position and is drought and frost tender.

This tree is grown for its flowers and foliage. It is planted in woodland or tropical settings, on the coast or inland and used for screen planting along shrub borders. It is also used as a lawn specimen establishing in 2 to 3 years and is suitable for fragrant gardens. ID 2216

Note:
It requires protection from cold drying winds and lime free soils. Under cultivation the tree normally is smaller attaining a maximum height of 10m (30ft).
