This cormous perennial has a low spreading tufted habit with slender strap-like dark green leaves. The singular goblet-shaped flowers are pale lilac with a yellow centre and held above the foliage on tall stem, appearing during autumn.

Crocus serotinusis naturally found in southern Portugal growing in well drained moderately fertile soils in an open sunny position and is drought and frost tolerant.
Crocus is grown for their flowers and are planted in small or cottage gardens in drifts or used for front border displays. They are also grown in containers, rock gardens and for naturalising in short turf. It establishes from division in 1 to 2 years and gives excellent autumn colour to the garden or is grown in patio pots. ID 2201
