This upright shrub has greyish trunk and spreading branches that form a bushy rounded habit. It has grey-green narrow oblong leathery leaves and the large cup-shaped pinkish flower head appears during summer above the foliage.

Protea magnificais naturally found on the Western Cape of South Africa. It prefers moderately fertile to poor soils that are tending acid in an open sunny position and is drought tolerant but is frost tender.
