This cormous perennial has a low spreading tufted habit with slender strap-like dark green leaves. The singular goblet-shaped flowers are lilac-mauve and are held above the foliage on tall stem and appear solitary during autumn.

Crocus goulimyiis naturally found in southern Greece growing in well drained, gritty moderately fertile soils in an open sunny position and is drought and frost tolerant.
Crocus are grown for there flowers and are planted in gardens as drifts or in front border displays. They are also grown in containers, rock gardens and used for naturalising in short turf, establishing from division in 1 to 2 years. It adds excellent autumn colour to small or cottage gardens.
