This moss-like perennial has small greenish spreading stems that form a dense mound. It has tiny needle-like bright green leaves that are packed along the stems and the minute greenish flowers appear in clusters from late spring to summer.

Scleranthus biflorusis naturally found in Australia growing in coastal or mountain regions from New South Wales to Victoria and Tasmania. It is also found growing on the coastal regions of the North Island of New Zealand.
It prefers very well drained moist, moderately fertile sandy-stony soils in an open sunny position and is frost tolerant but dislikes drought or high temperatures.
The Twin-flowered Knawel is grown for its cushion-like habit. It is planted around water features or in rockeries as a ground cover in small or large gardens. It is also suitable roof gardens or patio pots establishing from division in 1 to 2 years and can be found in coastal or mountainous regions.It tolerates some shade but dislikes prolonged wet soils.
