This small shrub has upright to spreading woody stems that form an open rounded habit. It has dark green elliptical leaves that are arranged closely against the stem and, the tiny cup-shaped white flowers appear in clusters during autumn.

Epacris petrophilais naturally found in Australia growing in the alpine regions of south-east New South Wales extending to Victoria and Tasmania growing in heath on well drained, but moist moderately fertile gravelly soils and is frost, snow and drought tolerant.
Snow Heath is grown for its flowers and is planted in mountain gardens as a specimen or in rockeries as spillover plant. It is suitable for alpine regions establishing in 1 to 2 years and may be grown in containers. It is a hardy plant tolerating exposed positions but is not commonly cultivated and may be difficult to obtained, requiring a specialist nursery. ID 2162
