This coniferous tree has a single or multiple trunks from the base (self-coppicing) with chocolate brown bubbly bark and forms a narrow conical habit. It has dark green narrow stiff leaves and the male and female cones appear during spring.

Wollemia nobillisis naturally found in Australia 200km north-west from Sydney in New South Wales in a small stand that is located in a shaded gully in the Wollemi National Park.

It grows on well drained moderately fertile moist sandy soils, tending acidic and prefers a semi shaded position when young, but tolerates a full sun position as it matures. It is frost tolerant but drought tender.

Wollemi Pine is grown for its habit and is planted in parks and large gardens as a specimen tree. It is also used for avenue plantings and gully settings. It is suitable for coastal or tableland regions establishing in 3 to 5 years and is commonly used for patio pots when young.ID 2160

Note:
This tree is an endangered species dates back 91million years and was thought to be extinct around 2 million years ago, but a small stand was discovered by Tony Noble while abseiling in the bush.
