This vigorous shrub has upright spreading branches with peeling light brown bark and forms a rounded crown. It has glossy dark green leathery leaves and the white cup-shaped flowers appear from mid-summer to mid-autumn.

Luma apiculatais naturally found from Chile to Argentina growing in woodlands on well drained moderately fertile humus rich soil. It prefers a sunny to semi shaded position and is drought tender but light frost tolerant.
This shrub is grown for its flowers, colourful bark and it rounded habit. It is planted in gardens as specimen or along borders for screening and may be pruned to form an informal hedge. It is suitable for coastal or low mountain regions and establishes in 2 to 3 years. ID 2158
Note:
The peeling cinnamon coloured bark reveals white-pinkish new bark and is a feature of the plant through out the year.
