This rhizomatous aquatic perennial forms a clump with slender soft stems that rise to floating dark green rounded leaves. It has yellow fringed star-shaped flowers that appear in clusters above the foliage during summer.

Nymphoides crenatais naturally found in Australia from northern Territory to Queensland, New South Wales Victoria and Western Australia growing along river margins and ponds in still water up to a depth of 1m (3ft). It prefers fertile wet soils in an open sunny position and is frost and drought tender.
