This medium size rainforest tree has a greyish trunk that is slightly buttress and ascending branches that form a rounded crown. The glossy green oblong leaves are variable and the tiny flowers appear in clusters during spring followed by red fruit.

It prefers a well drained, moist organic rich soil in a semi shaded to full sun position and is drought tolerant but frost tender.
