This feather palm has a smooth ringed brown trunk up to 150mm (6in) wide. It forms a crown shaft with arching divided fronds with long, dark green leaflets that are reddish when young. The small whitish flowers appear in spring followed by red fruit.

Chambeyronia macrocarpais naturally found in New Caledonia growing in well drained organic rich sandy loams. It prefers a semi-shaded protected position that is moist and humid, but tolerates full sun and is drought and frost tender.
This palm is grown for its attractive foliage and is planted in parks and gardens as a specimen. It is suitable for tropical settings but tolerates warm temperate climates. It establishes in 4 to 7 years and is suitable for semi shaded coastal positions, courtyards or around pools. When young it is used as a potted plant. ID 2021
