This small clump forming palm has upright cane-like stems that are bluish green. The divided fronds have dark green lanced-shaped leaflets and are terminal or slightly down the stems. During spring small yellow flowers appear followed by black fruit.

Chamaedorea seifriziiis naturally found in eastern Mexico growing in protected shaded positions on damp humus rich, friable sandy to light clay loams that are moderately drained. It prefers a semi-shade to bright filtered light with wind, frost and drought protection.

The Bamboo Palm is grown for its foliage and habit. It is planted in sub-tropical to tropical gardens as a border or screen plant and as an understorey specimen.
