This epiphytic fern has a short tufted rhizome with upright foliage. The simple dark green lanced-shaped fronds are undulating and have a leathery texture forming leafy clumps.

Asplenium attenuatumis naturally found i Australia from northern to southern Queensland and central New South Wales growing in rainforest pockets on fallen logs or on moist rocks. It may also be found growing terrestrially in moist, humus rich well drained soils in a semi shaded protected position with wind, frost and drought protection.

Spleenwort is a small fern that is grown for its foliage and is planted in rainforest gardens as a specimen or in a fernery and is used in gully settings. It is suitable for coastal or inland regions and establishes in 3 to 5 years. It is also used in hanging baskets or grown over rocks along water courses. ID 2013
