This creeping rhizomatous perennial has tufted upright foliage and forms a clump. It has long upright linear rusty coloured leaves and the cup-shaped white flowers appear in sprays amongst the foliage during spring.

Native Iris is a perennial that is grown for its foliage colour and flowers. It is suitable for small gardens as a border plant or used in rockeries. It is also mass planted in garden beds for colour contrast and establishes from division in 2 to 3 years. It may be planted in coastal or mountain regions tolerating cold conditions. ID 2001
