This large shrub commonly has multiple trunks that branch forming a dense crown. The divided leaves have glossy light green oblong leaflets arranged in a circular fashion and the small yellowish flowers appear in spring followed by orange-red fruit.

The Miniature Umbrella Tree is grown for its foliage and habit. It is planted in garden borders as a screen plant or as a specimen in a tropical garden and is popular as an indoor plant when young. It establishes in 2 to 3 years and may be trained with a single trunk in to a small shade tree.It is suitable for sub tropical coastal or the adjoining low mountain regions. ID 1989

Note:
The plant has a variable growth habit and may germinate in a tree growing as an epiphyte at first, developing aerial roots. The stems of a mature plant are pliable, growing in and around other plants.
