Acacia longissimais naturally found in Australia on the coast and in the adjoining hillsides of New South Wales predominately in the Sydney basin, but do extend up the coast to south-east Queensland.

It grows in well drained moderately fertile sandy soils in an open sunny to semi shaded position and is drought and light frost tolerant.

This small shrub is grown for its flowers but is not commonly cultivated and may be difficult to obtain. It can be used in small gardens or bushland settings as a specimen and is suitable for coastal positions. It establishes from seed in 2 to 4 years and may be grown in a container.ID 1967
