This shrub is upright with slender branches that form an open bushy habit and has a lignotuber. It has stiff dark green lanced-shaped leaves and the pink to white cup-shaped flowers have many stamens and appear in a spike from late spring to early summer.

Melaleuca thymifoliais naturally found in Australia from south-east Queensland to southern New South Wales growing in heath or open forests around swamps in moderately fertile well drained sandy soils. It prefers a open sunny position and is frost tolerant but is drought tender.

Thyme Honey-myrtle is grown for its flowers and is planted in small gardens as a specimen. It is suitable for coastal plantings tolerating salt spray and establishes in 2 to 3 years. It is also for planting around water features or in containers with reliable moisture. ID 1964
