This shrub has a compact rounded habit with slender woody stems and small, dull green narrow oblong leaves. The small deep pink saucer-shaped flowers appear from autumn to winter in clusters towards the end of the branches.

Thryptomene hyporhytisis naturally found in south-western Western Australia growing in light to medium well drained sandy loams in an open sunny position and is drought tolerant but frost tender.

This small shrub is grown for its winter flowers and is planted in small gardens as a specimen. It is also planted in rock gardens or containers establishing in 2 to 3 years. It is suitable for coastal or inland regions and is an excellent cut flower. ID 1932
