This shrub is upright and spreading with rigid grey brown branches that form a rounded habit. The oblong dark green leaves are whitish on the underside and pendant red flower heads appear during spring.

Diplolaena grandiflorais naturally found in the western coastal areas of Western Australia. It grows in red sandy, moderately fertile soils in an open sunny position and tolerates drought and light frost, salt spray.

Tamala Rose is grown for its flowers and is planted in small gardens or parks as a specimen or in shrub borders attracting birds. It is suitable for coastal regions establishing in 2 to 3 years. It may also be used as a low screen and the flowers may be cut for floral arrangements.ID 1923

Note:
It may be difficult to cultivate in the eastern states of Australia, but grafted forms are available and are more successful.
