This small shrub has upright spreading woody branches that form an open rounded habit. It has oblong grey green leaves and the small cup-shaped pinkish flowers appear in clusters during summer.

Eriogonum giganteumis naturally found in North America growing in Santa Catalina and the adjacent islands in very well drained, moderately fertile soils. It prefers an open sunny position and tolerates drought and high temperatures but is frost tender.
St Catherine's Lace is grown for its habit and flowers. It is planted in coastal gardens or parks as a specimen or in group plantings. It is also suitable for rockeries establishing in 1 to 2 years and is planted in shrub borders as a screen. The flowers may be cut for floral arrangements but the plant may be difficult to obtain outside its native region. ID 1887
