This large tree may start as an epiphyte enmeshing the host tree or growing from the ground with a greyish trunk with spreading branches that form curtain-like aerial roots. It has dark green, pointed oval leaves and produces a white spotted red fruit during summer.

Ficus virensis naturally found from India to the Malay Peninsula and northern Australia growing on a variety of well drained fertile, moist soils in an open sunny position and is drought and frost tender.
White Fig is a large tree that is grown for its habit and is only planted in large parks or gardens as a lawn specimen for shade. It establishes in 2 to 4 years and is suitable for tropical settings on the coast and inland. This long lived tree is also grown in containers when young and placed under glass in cold climates. Under cultivation the tree is normally smaller to 17m (50ft) and if the tree grows as an epiphyte it sends down aerial roots and eventually kills the host tree. It may attain a height of 30m (100ft) or more.
The large branches produce aerial roots that become secondary trunks, supporting a broader canopy. This semi deciduous tree forms a trunk that is over 2m (6ft) diameter and when cut is reddish brown, exuding a milky sap.
