This upright shrub has spreading branches that form an open rounded crown. It has leathery dark green toothed oblong leaves and the orange brown cylindrical flower-heads appear during late spring and persist on the plant.

Banksia solandriis naturally found in a remote part of south-western Western Australia growing in heath or woodlands on stony, well drained moderately fertile sandy loams. It prefers an open sunny position on hill sides or in gullies.
The Oak-leaf Banksia is grown for its attractive foliage and flowers. It is planted in parks and small or native gardens as a specimen or in shrub borders. It is suitable for coastal regions and establishes in 3 to 5 years and flowers after 8 years. This bird attracting shrub may be difficult to obtain from nurseries. ID 1847
Note:
It has thin smooth brownish bark with pubescent branchlets and may be difficult to cultivate outside its native region. The plant has no lignotuber and when it burnt dies, but the seeds germinate easily.
