This terrestrial orchid has spreading slender reed-like stems to 900mm (3ft) long with aerial roots and forms a upright tangled clump. It has fleshy oblong yellowish green leaves and the small red-orange orchid-like flowers appear in clusters during summer.

Epidendrum Ibaguenseis naturally found from the West Indies to Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Peru. It grows in well drained organic rich soils in a protected to open sunny position with high humidity and is drought tolerant but frost tender.
The Crucifix Orchid is grown for its flowers and rambling habit. It is planted in garden beds as a spill-over or as a low filler plant. It is also grown in containers and establishes from cuttings in 2 to 3 years. It tolerates cooler conditions and is used in sub tropical gardens or is planted in hanging baskets.ID 1826
