This small tree has a short greenish-brown scaly trunk with upright branches that form a rounded crown. It has broad lanced-shaped glossy green leaves and the creamy flowers appear from the trunk and branches in spring followed by grape like editable fruit.

Myrciaria caulifloranaturally found in South America from southern Brazil to Rio de Janeiro, Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Paraguay, and north-eastern Argentina growing in hilly regions and forests.
It prefers a humid tropical climate with moist fertile, organic rich soils in a protected sunny to semi-shaded position and is drought and frost tender.
Jaboticaba is grown for its habit and its edible fruit. It is planted in tropical settings along borders as a screen plant or as a specimen in small gardens. It establishes in 4 to 6 years but is slow growing and is suitable for coastal or low mountain regions. ID 1797
