Plant overview
This deciduous shrub to small tree has a solitary trunk with spreading spiny branches that form a domed crown. It has silvery-green lanced-shaped leaves and tiny perfumed tube-shaped yellowish flowers appear in late spring.

Elaeagnus angustifoliais naturally found from southern Europe to central Asia and China growing in moderately fertile well drained, moist to drier soils. It prefers an open sunny position tolerating frost and drought or high temperatures.
Silver Berry is a hardy shrub that may form thickets and is grown for its silvery foliage. It is planted in gardens as a small specimen tree or in shrub borders for screening. It is also suitable for hedging and establishes in 2 to 4 years. It is suitable for cool inland and coastal positions. ID 1733
Note:
When young it may sucker and at maturity it forms an attractive crooked brownish trunk. In some parts of south-eastern USA it has naturalised in drier woodlands.
